The Bernie Farber campaign in Thornhill is in full swing, and spirits couldn’t be higher! Everyone is doing their part, and people are coming in off the street to canvass with Bernie and the team. The literature is going out in high volume, and supporters Thornhill-wide are signing up to have a Bernie Farber sign go up on their lawns. Everyone here is confident that if this momentum continues Peter Shurman will have a run for his money to keep his seat. So if there is any reason to get involved this would be it, the chance to join a winning team, and be a part of a sweeping change for Thornhill! The energy here is high, and Bernie is taking the lead, going out three times a day to knock on doors, getting to know the voters of Thornhill, one door at a time. And Bernie is working hard to continue the Liberal trend of doing what is right for Ontario in both the immediate and long run!

Today (Wednesday August 24) is a special day at the Bernie Farber campaign, Michael Chan, the Minister of Tourism and Culture will be joining Bernie to present him with his adopted Chinese name. Bernie’s name in Chinese comes from the bows of the pine tree, symbolizing life and vitality, an appropriate name for Bernie as he has consistently been a driving force in the community and for Thornhill. And on the campaign trail, Bernie has been going non-stop, getting up to 20 requests for lawn signs on one canvass. Even more amazingly, word around the campaign headquarters is that Bernie is just warming up!

Michael Chan will also be joining Bernie in the near future to canvass the community, and the excitement at the campaign centre is at a noticeably high! Michael Chan, a likeminded supporter of the Ontario Liberal government’s rational and realistic approach to healthcare, is a kindred spirit to Bernie, reflected in Michael’s vocal efforts in supporting the much needed expansion project to the Markham-Unionville Hospital. Bernie Farber recognizes that investment in healthcare is paramount to Ontarians, and his support and efforts to secure the approval of the new Vaughan hospital is one of those steps that Bernie along with the governing Ontario Liberal party has taken to ensuring a healthy Ontario.

Bernie is backed by a strong platform, focusing largely on investment in healthcare, better integrated transit across the GTA, more affordable childcare costs, cutting 10% off of home electricity bills, and protecting green space in Markham and Vaughan. Bernie and the team is energized to get the message out, and get Bernie elected so that he and the Liberal Party of Ontario can continue to deliver to Ontario the strong, realistic, and responsible path of governance that has made Ontario the economic powerhouse that it is.
